A: Colour printing has become an essential requirement in today’s business environment. Research studies have shown that recipients of colour documents have a stronger brand affiliation to the sender as compared to receiving monochrome documents. Furthermore, the price of colour laser printers has dropped drastically over the past few years. This minimal additional cost is greatly offset by the major benefits of colour printing.
A: Brother International is a leader in the development and manufacturing of technologies in the printing, communication and digital imaging industries for homes, SOHOs and enterprises.
Here at Brother, we build our own print engine and software based on our intense R&D done in Japan. As a later entrant into the colour laser printer market, Brother had the opportunity to carefully study the market and the different needs of the end-users. We were able to build and improve upon the features and technology already available in the market. Our approach has given us an added advantage over others as we are able to better serve the needs of our customers.
For example, we understand the importance of being able to control which users have access to full-colour printing. We now have such a function readily available across our full range of products, unlike other brands where this function is only available in higher end machines
A: Besides installation of the appropriate printer drivers according to the operating system, our printers generally come with the PCL and BR-Script 3 (an emulation printer driver for PS3) drivers. In general, PCL drivers can be used for faster print jobs and uses lesser memory. BR-Script 3 is used for more complex graphics printout, especially those from Adobe design software.
A: Brother laser printers use DIMM RAM. So in general, all DIMM RAM are compatible with Brother printers. All models are upgradeable up to a maximum of 512MB RAM (MFC-9840CDW up to 640MB RAM). Refer to user guide for more information.
A: As an International Standard, many use Pantone certified printers to get the most accurate colour matching. But colour perception differs greatly across the globe. For example, in Europe, the colour of human skin will look natural if it has a pinkish tinge, while skin looks more natural in Asia when the tone is slightly brownish and tan. Even a Pantone certified machine requires calibration to achieve the most accurate colour
output. Our printers are able to achieve colour toning preferred by users through colour calibration and adjustment.
A: Yes, you can still do monochrome printing if any one of the colour toners runs low or is empty. However, all printing capabilities will stop when the black toner also runs out.
A: Instead of considering how many users one printer can support, it would be more appropriate to consider the monthly usage or the print volume of the users. In general, each printer can handle a monthly print volume of up to 35,000 pages. So assuming each printer supports up to 20 users, the average monthly printing capacity per person should be around 1,750 pages.
