Q: For such a small machine, are the laser printers in the HL-5200 series able to match the speed and quality of a normal printer?
A: Despite being one of the most compact monochrome laser printers in the market, the HL-5200 series still boast the fastest printing speed in its class. It produces up to 30% faster than others in its class, enabling users to print voluminous reports, presentations and documents in a breeze. It is able to print at speeds of up to 28ppm and at resolutions of up to 600dpi in less than 8.5 sec a page.
Q: If the HL-5200 series prints at such fast speeds, will it jam up if I have too many documents to print at once? And is it troublesome to keep refilling the trays with paper?
A: Brother products incorporate technological innovations that can cater to the increasing user load of the future. HL-5240 comes with memory expansion option that easily allows you to scale from the standard 16MB memory that is fully upgradeable to 528MB, while HL-5250DN and HL-5270DN come with a standard 32MB memory upgradeable to 544MB. This means that you can send multiple files into the printer and it would still be able to accept print jobs in its queue. This will then free up your PC for other uses.
All three models come with the standard 250-sheet Paper Tray, though this holding capacity can be dramatically increased with optional trays. This option gives users the flexibility of working with 250, 500 or 750 sheets. Paper holding can thus be increased numerous times to cater to growing user demands. HL-5200 series increases its capacities to match your increasing needs.
Q: How can I maximize my paper resource with MFC-5200 series?
A: HL-5250DN and HL-5270DN both come integrated with the automatic Duplex function and its bundled booklet printing option. The duplex function prints on both sides of the page, saving precious resources such as paper and toner, while booklet printing allows multiple pages to be combined into the format of a book. These are value-added printing and presentation versatilities for users in the modern office. This also gives more flexibility for you to present your documents in different layouts, and allows you to save on paper resource.
Q: Will I have to invest in toners frequently with the MFC-5200 series?
A: First of all, HL-5200 series uses separate toner and drum, which means that you only need to replace the toner when it runs out and not the whole toner and drum unit. Toner and drum cartridges play a huge part in the total cost of ownership of an office-grade printer. Having separate toner and drum cartridges give users the flexibility of replacing the depleted toner cartridge without throwing away a drum. This is because the drum is able to run at 100% capacity for a few toner cycles. This will help reduce your ongoing operation cost significantly.
Secondly, the highest performing printer – HL-5270DN is shipped with high-yield toner, which gives you incredible cost savings immediately upon purchase. Our standard toner already supports 3,500 pages of print, while our high-yield toner supports an astounding 7,000 pages. Brother gives you more, even as you pay less.
All three models in the HL-5200 series have a Toner Save feature that prints with less toner – without dramatically reducing print quality. So for non-critical documents, regular use of Toner Save extends the life span of the toner cartridge.
Q. What about restrict usage of classified documents by non-permitted users who are hooked up into the network?
A. With security as a top concern in many networked offices today, every layer of breach protection is important. Taking that into consideration, HL-5270DN has been developed with a security function to eliminate unintentional information leak. With Secure Print, users can choose to operate a print job securely, allowing access only through a PIN number or by logging on to the printer via a web browser.
Q: What kind of security is in place for the network-enabled MFC?
A: The network-enabled laser printers (HL-5250DN and HL-5270DN) in the HL-5200 series are empowered with IP Access List Control. This means that in a network environment, the printers are able to restrict access from any computer that is hooked up in the network, if it is not authorised to use the printers. You can be sure that there will be no breach of confidentiality in your office due to unauthorised printing. |

Q: Can I scan directly to email without turning on the PC?
A: Under normal standalone or direct access situations, Brother’s MFC-8860DN is able to attach your scanned image as a file attachment to your email application, like Outlook and Outlook Express.
But that’s not all that it does. Because this MFC is a network-enabled product, it can also be accessed via the email server. As long as you have programmed your commonly-used email addresses in the MFC, the machine can intelligently send out your scanned documents through a few simple buttons from the Control panel of the machine via the email server, so there is no requirement to even have your PC switched on.
This brings great convenience for users who may not be seated right next to the machine itself.
Q: Is the MFC able to scan directly to my FTP server for easy retrieval by other users? |
A: Most definitely. MFC-8860DN allows you to scan documents directly to FTP sites through your local network connection or in the Internet, or scan a document for archiving or distributing on a FTP server quickly and easily. This is a highly effective productivity tool, as it enables remote access to large image files by permitted users. With the “Scan-to-FTP” option, MFC-8860DN keeps your email server free from handling large image files as users can access the document whenever and wherever they want.
Using web-based management, the administrator is able to create up to 10 profiles, file type, etc. may be saved. This makes work even easier, as the user does not then have to enter the details manually. |

Q: What about restrict usage by non-permitted users who are hooked up into the network?

Q: With so many high-end functions, will the MFC be expensive to operate day-to-day?
A: Not at all! Our MFCs are always cost-effective machines that give low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). For example, our standard toner is able to provide up to 3,500 prints, while high-yield toners can provide an astounding 7,000 prints.
On top of that, our laser machines uses separate toner and drum, which means you only replace the toner when it runs out, as the drum can be used for a few toner cycles. Not only do you save the environment when using our laser MFC, you are also saving cost because you don’t have to pay for the hidden extras when you are only replacing the necessary consumable.
Q: How does the MFC handle digital faxes via the network?
A: MFC-8860DN is able to store all incoming softcopy faxes in the networked PC. You don’t need to have a cable connection to the machine directly from a workstation, saving you space and clutter.

Q: For a machine with so many functions integrated into one unit, is MFC-9420CN able to match the speed and quality of a normal colour laser printer?
A: MFC-9420CN has the highest print speed in its class, at 31ppm for black and white prints, and 8ppm for full colour prints. Every colour is listed and colour coded, so you can easily select the one you want to change. And that’s all there is to it! |
|
